An XM Radio-ready home theater system makes it easy to connect an XM Mini Tuner and Home Dock to your audio components. This will allow you to receive XM Satellite Radio reception in the room your main system is in, or throughout your home if you so desire.

XM Radio is a subscription service which allows you to receive over 170 digital radio stations via satellite, no matter where in the United States you are, for an affordable monthly fee. If you have problems with FM radio reception where you live, you should definitely consider adding this option to your home theater system. There is a radio station for everyone in the family to enjoy, and it is an economical way to experience a wide variety of music with very little effort.

The addition of digital radio service is a logical choice for a home theater system. You can use the components you already have in place to enjoy commercial free music, sports, talk shows and news. Many of the home theatre systems available are XM radio ready. Some of them are also capable of recording music from your favorite satellite radio channels.

Detailed instructions are available to enable you to equip your home theater system with satellite radio. Generally, you connect the digital receiver into the line level input of your audio system. Then, connect the power adaptor and home antenna, positioning the antenna in such a way as to maximize the signal strength that will turn your home theater system into a veritable smorgasbord of musical enjoyment.

You owe it to yourself to maximize your investment in a home theater system by including the delights of satellite radio. Ever wonder who was singing a certain song? This information is displayed on an easy-to-read screen on the front of the digital receiver. With satellite radio, you will get music choice and variety, and may even discover new artists who will quickly become your favorites.

The improved sound quality of the digital signal, coupled with the excellence of your home theatre system’s speakers, can make listening to music a truly memorable experience.

There are many reasons to consider the purchase of a home theater system. If you frequent movie theaters on a regular basis, you know that ticket prices seem to get higher every year. If your entire family goes to see movies together, the amount spent for tickets can add up quickly. With a home theater system, you will save money after the initial purchase. You can choose exactly what you want to watch, and control what movies your children see. There will be no worries about traffic making you late for the beginning of the movie, and no need for high priced snacks from the concession stand.

A home theater system makes family entertainment very convenient. With an added component such as a popular device called a DVR, you can record any movie or show on television while you are away from home, and then watch your selections at your leisure. This addition to your home theater system will also allow you to pause live television, bookmark a scene, even store entire seasons of your favorite show!

With a home theater system, you will especially enjoy your subscription to DVD rental services such as Blockbuster or Netflix. The freedom of choosing and enjoying whatever movie or television series you would like to see becomes even more of a treat once you have the equivalent of a movie theater in your own home.

Watching television becomes an event when you have a home entertainment system. Your usual viewing choices will seem fresh and new when viewed on a large screen and experienced in surround sound. Your family and your friends will enjoy the cinematic pleasure of sports, movies, entertainment specials, and cartoons all year round.

You will feel as if you are actually in a concert hall or arena when you experience music from a home theater system. The rich, clear sound quality will entrance you and soothe your senses after a long, hard day. You will appreciate your CD collection even more when you realize the difference a good home theater system makes in the sound quality.

A home theater system is a wise choice if you enjoy movies and television, want to save some money, and crave superb entertainment on demand.

If you are searching for an accessory to maximize the usefulness of your home theater system, look no further than a digital video recorder. Sold under several brand names, and also available for rent by some cable companies, a digital video recorder is a device which delivers amazing audio sound and a high quality video experience to the cinema connoisseur. If you choose a DVR from your cable company, the recorder will be enclosed inside your cable box, saving room in the design of your home theater system.

A digital video recorder easily connects to your existing home theater system with a built in USB and Ethernet port. Weighing only around 15 pounds, a DVR records video in digital format to a hard disk drive which can, depending on the model you choose, record up to 300 hours of television entertainment. DVRs can also record two digital channels at one time while you are watching another show. The front panel shows you what is being recorded as it is happening, even with the power to your television switched off.

The digital video recorder keeps all of the sharpness and detail of the original programming so you are able to enjoy your preferred shows and movies using your home theater system whenever you desire, just as if they were actually on the air. If you have two favorite shows that happen to come on at the same time, your DVR will grab them both and save them for you, and you can go out to dinner knowing you have the freedom to watch either or both whenever you desire. You can even set the DVR one time only to record entire episodes of shows. Imagine how much more you will get out of your home theater system when you can record shows without having to buy blank recording media!

You can also use a digital video recorder along with your home theater system to pause and control live TV by rewinding, fast forwarding, or any of the other functions you are used to your VCR performing.

Some of the new televisions being sold have DVR capability built into them. This could be a good option if you are in the market for a new set to round out your home entertainment system. A digital video recorder can save you time and maximize your television viewing.

You have a wide variety of choices when it comes to choosing the best television for your home theater system, but the most important variables are size and picture resolution.

It is common to choose a television 27 inches or larger as the focal point of your system. A common misconception is the larger the screen, the more cinema like the home experience. This can be true in some cases, but there are many things you should take into consideration before buying a television.

The size of the room in which you are planning to place your home theater system can help determine what size screen you should get. As a general rule, the larger the set, the more room you need to allow to create the proper viewing distance between you and the television. It would also be wise to consider the amount of natural light that the room you have chosen receives. Some larger sets do not perform well in a bright environment. Also, make sure you have measured the area where you plan to place the television, in order to choose a set of the proper size.

When deciding on a television for your home theater system, you can choose what is known in the industry as a direct-view TV, the kind most of us are familiar with, and the least expensive. Other options include a rear-projection TV, which includes the LCD display, the flat panel TV with either an LCD or plasma display, or the rear projection TV, which requires a separate movie screen.

Choose a television which receives a digital signal, instead of analog. Digital signals are progressively scanned, which provides a higher picture resolution. Such a set will be simple to locate as the United States is changing its broadcasting format from analog to digital, and televisions are being manufactured with this in mind. The highest quality digital signal is known as HDTV. You must purchase a compatible set in order to get this extra resolution, but these are the most expensive televisions. You can invest in an HDTV-ready television for your home theater system, and upgrade later

To insure you will be well satisfied with your home theater system, take the time to compare several different brands of the kind and size of television you are most interested in. Make an educated decision based on planning and research for years of enjoyment.

A home theater system can transport you from the comfort of your living room recliner to a place far, far away as sight and sound immerse the senses. The realism of this cinematic experience can be yours if you know exactly what to buy in order to assemble a top quality system.

There are three main components that every home theater system shares. These are a television, the bigger and wider the screen the better, a DVD player, and a good quality set of surround-sound speakers.

A television of 27 inches or more is what you need for your home theater system, and the newer wide-screen models are much preferred for the home theater experience. Most of the DVD movies you can buy or rent are produced in a wide-screen format. A wide-screen television is closer in shape to an actual movie screen than a conventional TV, plus most of these big beauties are also high resolution sets. This assures a picture that is a lot sharper and clearer than older televisions. You can choose either a flat panel plasma or LCD TV, a rear-projection TV, or a front-projection TV with a separate movie screen.

Look for a DVD player that can handle the high definition DVD disc formats. Almost all players are able to play DVD movies, music CDs, and MP3s and movies recorded onto CD-R /RW and DVD-R/RW discs. Look for a multi disc player so you can keep several movies and music CDs loaded for playback without having to get up from your seat. A DVD player with progressive scan insures you a clear, sharp picture. You might also want to consider a DVD player/recorder, which can record movies and television programs onto blank discs for your own personal use. DVD-R recorders also have large hard drives onto which you can download and store your favorite shows.

Your home theater system’s audio sound can come from a starter set consisting of center, left, and right speakers, plus a subwoofer for more robust bass sounds. Check reviews in audiovisual magazines for the best rated speakers. It would be a good idea to try to listen to what comes out of your speakers before you buy them, so you can best judge whether the sound will be suitable for your needs. Take your time and visit several different stores before you make your final selection.

If you think you can take those old stereo speakers and hook them up to your television set in order to create surround sound for your home theater system, you are cheating yourself out of an auditory delight. True, you would hear the audio sounds from the program you were watching, but surround sound works differently. With a properly set up set of speakers, the sound quality is optimized, making you feel as if whatever is happening on the television screen is actually taking place in the room where you are sitting – especially if you close your eyes!

A good set of speakers will include what is called a digital media port, which will allow you to expand the usefulness of your home theater system even more. With this option, you can play music from your computer’s hard drive, an iPod, or any Bluetooth device, and enjoy the incredible range and tone that the speakers produce.

A basic set of surround sound speakers for your home theater system will include three to five wall mountable speakers for a wide, clear sound field, along with a subwoofer to further enhance the entire audio spectrum. Generally, you will need two front speakers, two rear speakers, a center speaker, and a subwoofer for the best sound. Once you get everything set up, prepare to be amazed. You will be able to actually “feel” the sound as it reverberates! It would be best to find a set that has a magnetically shielded center speaker, so that this one can be placed close to your television set without any sort of image distortion. Your subwoofer should also have a power supply of its own for best results.

A good receiver is a big part of the surround sound package for your home theater system. The receiver for your speakers should be as high a wattage as possible for the best sound, and should be equipped with at least a 4 channel Dolby Pro Logic decoder. Look for the inclusion of Digital Cinema Sound technology and Auto Calibration for clean, crisp, realistic sound quality. The best receivers will have separate and distinct sound filed controls for music and movies, and easy to reach connections for headphones, optional antennas, and of course, speakers. Most will include a microphone which will balance the speakers for you, giving you the best audio with very little effort on your part.

Most people who own a home theater system usually have a subscription to either cable or satellite television to insure that they have a wide variety of movies, sitcoms, sports, news, and music to enjoy. Whenever they want to see a new movie that has been released on DVD, or classic film that never seems to show up in their channel lineup, they head to the video rental store. Movies are sometimes out of stock at these stores, so you must make a snap decision right then and there. You can either rent another DVD, or go home and watch whatever you can find on television. Then, you must make sure to return the DVD on time, or pay a late fee.

There is a way to make the most of your home theater system, always have access to the movies you want to see without ever paying a late fee – classics, new releases, even TV shows – and save time, too, as the movies are delivered and returned by U.S. Mail for free in about 1 business day. Consider a subscription to Netflix, the world’s largest online DVD rental service.

Netflix is a perfect partner for your home theater system. With 85,000 titles in stock, there is something for everyone! After choosing a delivery plan and signing up online, you create a list of the DVDs you want to see. Netflix mails you anywhere from 1 to 3 discs, depending on your chosen plan. They arrive quickly, and the best part is, you can keep them as long as you want! As soon as you return a disc, another one from your list is sent to you.

Partnered with your home theater system, Netflix is better than going to the movies! Your living room will be a film watching haven as you immerse yourself into the sound and action of your chosen movies and television episodes. What better way to enjoy your home theater system than to be able to order and watch whatever you want, as many times as you want, for a very reasonable membership fee? Fill up the multidisc changer on your DVD player, settle back and enjoy the show!

Most people who own iPods have found that this hugely popular product is almost indispensable to them as they go about their daily routine. The ability to enjoy music wherever you happen to be can be quite addictive. It has become popular to integrate home theater systems with the iPod in order to take advantage of the high quality audio and video that these systems are noted for, and to give the ears a break from the ubiquitous earbuds that sometimes seem permanently implanted in our zeal to entertain ourselves!

iPods play well with home theater systems. Anything that the iPod’s hard drive contains can be shared with friends and family. The new fifth generation iPod, which is capable of displaying videos and photos, works especially well. Music videos downloaded from Apple’s iTunes look and sound great, and favorite photos you may have added to your iPod show up beautifully on a large screen television. Even the older iPods which contain music only will give you double the enjoyment when paired with your home theater system. All your playlists and favorites can be quickly and easily accessed for your listening pleasure. Any audio enhancements you system contains, such as Dolby Pro Logic II, will work with the songs on your iPod to create a sound quality you just cannot get from an iPod alone.

To harness the power of your home theater system, you will need what is known as an audio/video dock for the iPod. This device will blend in with your existing system and bridge the two units together, enabling you to get maximum enjoyment out of each component. Once connected, the iPod is controllable with the home theater system’s remote. You can view the tracks included on your iPod playlists via the receiver of your home system. Now, it is easy to enjoy your digital music that you have stored on your iPod. With just the touch of a button, your home can be filled with music of the highest fidelity. The dock also charges your iPod while it is connected, which is a real time-saver.

You can find these audio/video docks both online and in retail stores, making it easy to turn your iPod into a home music server and add extra enjoyment to your home theater system.

Once you have decided that you want to experience the cinematic splendor of a movie theater in your own living room by installing a home theater system, it’s time to plan exactly how to accomplish your goal. Evaluate how much you can spend, decide what parts of the system are most important for your viewing and listening pleasure, then began to research the items you will need.

A good starting point can be audio-video magazines. Read both the articles and the advertisements to get a feel for what makes up a comprehensive home theatre system. Check your local retail stores, and also online, to get a good idea of the prices of all the different products that are available. A savvy shopper can take advantage of local sales or discount online merchants to easily stay within their budget.
It is possible to use components that you already own to assemble an economical home theater system. A television, CD player, DVD player, and cable or satellite equipment are common in most homes. All that would be needed if these items are available would be a receiver to connect everything together, and your choice of speakers. To stay within a budget, you can purchase a basic set of three speakers, then add a subwoofer and additional speakers at a later date.

The easiest and least expensive route to take to create a home theater system if you are starting from scratch is to purchase one of the popular home theater-in-a-box systems. Be aware that audio purists much prefer to choose components separately for a more satisfying home theater experience, and consider these sets to be more of an entry level system. You will still need a television, as these are not included.

If you are electronically challenged, installation of a HTIB will be simple, as detailed instructions are a part of the package. These systems typically come with a receiver, a set of speakers, a remote control, all needed cables, and often a DVD player as well. Setup is fast, and in a short time, you’ll be able to experience the joys of having your own home theater system. These systems typically are quite streamlined, and so is also a smart choice if the space is limited in your chosen location.

Make wise decisions when choosing components and the home theater system of your dreams can soon become a reality for you.

We are a nation of movie buffs. Even the smallest town proudly boasts a movie theater, and each new release is highly anticipated by aficionados of celluloid. But the film itself is only part of the reason why this pastime has remained popular over the years.

People flock to the theatres to experience quality sound and a large, sharp picture which seems to heighten the realism of what is happening on the screen. It is quite easy to become so engrossed in the movie that it feels as if you are right in the middle of the action!

It is now possible for consumers to recreate this experience in the comfort of their own homes. A quality home theater system also allows you to watch what you want, when you want, which is an added bonus for today’s busy movie fans. Many people who would never consider buying a home theater system because of the price have reconsidered when they discovered that purchasing the components of such a system can be feasible for most budgets.

If you already own a fairly new, large screen television and a decent stereo system, the only things you need to invest in to complete a basic home theater system would be a simple surround sound system and a good DVD player. When you are ready for more, you may consider purchasing what is known as a Home Theater- In- A- Box. Everything you will need, including most connection cables, has been chosen for you. These are compact systems designed to fit nearly any room, and are easy for anyone who is electronics-challenged to set up.

A more advanced home theater system could include a larger high-definition compatible television, such as a flat panel or projection TV, a more powerful surround sound system, a DVD player/recorder, a receiver for satellite radio, or perhaps a custom system with a video projector, in-wall speakers, theater seats, even a concession stand! The choice is yours. You’ll find it is really simple to come very close to the movie theater experience right in your own living room.

Home Theater Systems can bring many exciting entertainment options into any room of your home for you and your family’s enjoyment. Investigate all of the choices that are available to you – and don’t forget the popcorn!
